Sturridge has the ability to step into the hole left by Luis Suarez

By the end of oast season Daniel Sturridge’s name was sang on The Kop. Yes, it didn’t catch on like others have done in the past, but Liverpool fans now have to believe that the England striker is ready to become the main man at Anfield and we might just need a new song for him.

Sadly, Luis Suarez is Barcelona-bound and that means there is a huge gap in the side and I believe that this gap can be filled by someone who already wears the red shirt.

Last season Sturridge scored 21 league goals, despite a number of injuries keeping him out of parts of the season and was second-fiddle to Suarez at times.

Now here is the chance for him to become the main striker at the club and if he is fully fit for the majority of the season, we all know he will score the goals that have us challenging again at the top of the league.

Reading social media in the past few weeks I have seen plenty of names mentioned to replace Suarez and I agree with the players some people have suggested. But, instead of replacing Suarez, find the man who would be perfect to suit Sturridge and give him the chance to become the new hero at Anfield.

With Suarez leaving we are seeing one of the best in the world move on, but it gives the opportunity for Sturridge to show he can do the job and I believe he has the confidence and ability to do so.

Let’s hope first day of the season we see Sturridge doing his wriggly-arm dance and starting the season meaning business. If Sturridge stays fit and is the focal point of our attack I genuinely believe he can become a 30-goal-a-season striker.

By the way, I mentioned earlier in this article about names I have seen people say they’d like: Gonzalo Higuain, James Rodriguez, Karim Benzema are just three to mention, but I am going to leave you with this…

Mario Balotelli, I see you now reading this rather puzzled but he has all the ability in the world and I believe Brendan Rodgers along with the work of Steve Peters could turn Balotelli into the world class player he could be, without the antics.

James Rodríguez or two speedy wingers……

  • Hillario Quaresma says:

Edinson Cavani will be the perfect patner for sturridge & still replace suarez hardwork, quality, passion, work rate, team ethic, willingness to learn & more so humbled get the man BR and we’ll challenge again

Edinson cavani ? What ? You didn’t watch the same world cup as me ? A traffic cone has a better chance of success with sturridge than him pls

We need another striker . Can’t rely on sturridge . Injuries and the number if games dictate that we need another striker. Not origi, nor wingers. Cavani would be perfect as he would score 20 plus. Tighten defence and create more to compensate for Suarez. He is irreplaceable like for like.
Rodriguez ? We have no chance. Cavani, maybe…if he is unhappy at psg.
    Other than that , I don’t know.

How about danny ings? Yes I know he’s english and therefore probably hasn’t even been considered but why not? We used to sign players from the championship but I do know snobbery exists in football. Why not do something radical and sign an englishman from the championship. I know…..stupid idea……silly me!

Liverpool needs one out standing striker like messi,Robbin, naymar,c.Ronaldo and many other famous world strikers. We have enough players in liverpool but we only need one strong stiker like suarez.

    • Abdi khalif says:

By releasing suarez is a remarkable disaster and to replace is a day dreaming

James rdgz is ok 2 gives sturridge suit

  • REGHAN says:

The player I would love Lfc to replace Luis Suarez is Sergio Aguero

  • Roger says:

LFC need a strike partner for Sturridge who is not selfish, can create space and pull defenders. Cavani doesn’t do that. Most of his goals are created by others. It is not an easy task replacing Suarez. Just hope LFC don’t panic and buy someone who does not fit into this team. It will be disaster. At the moment after the WC, all players had their value hiked up ridiculously. In fact LFC already have 3 strikers, Sturridge,Borini,Lambert and if signed Origi as well.Maybe its time to give Borini to partner Sturridge. And if really difficult to find a suitable player as Suarez, BR and Ayre should look at some players from South American leagues. Introduce an unknown. Like we did with S.Hppya. Who knows !! Anyway its just a suggestion.

I strongly agree with Roger, only if Liverpool management could see reasons with us the fans. YWNWA

  • geo says:

I don’t want a winger anymore. I only want an injury free striker like luis suarez and a beast like him too. Say a player like jackson martinez or maybe and experienced player like huntelaar or balottelli

  • Abdi khalif says:

To say my final word, let Rodgers take time to bring talented striker and partner D.sturridge,,meanwhile i don,t invite Divock Origi at anfield.

  • max says:

get Ballotelli remeber he troubled the manu defenders in the manu 6-0 thrashing at old trafford

  • Jonnah says:

Let BR do his work but James Rodriguez is sensetional

  • bonny says:

lets thinkof james rodrigues and shaquiri the young ambitious strikers
