Liverpool Agree £12 million Fee For Moreno

So, that came out of left-field, eh?

For the past 2 months, Liverpool have been toiling away trying to get Sevilla to reduce their ridiculous demands for Alberto Moreno from £20+ million and now have seemingly agreed a fee of just £12 million for the Spanish left-back.

Of course, there’s a chance that add-ons will be included in the deal but for an initial fee it makes the £28 million Manchester United splurged on Shaw look obscene.

In the past 2 weeks it appeared that a fee of £16 million had been agreed, then everything seemed to have stalled and fallen apart again so to have negotiated the Europa League winners down to almost half their asking price is some pretty impressive work. Even if it did take around 2 months.

Moreno has been left out of tonight’s Super Cup clash with Real Madrid and any suggestions that his inclusion was an attempt to play hard-ball with Liverpool seem unfounded, particularly considering the club were expected to end up paying over the odds for Moreno.

Hopefully, within the next 48 hours, we’ll be welcoming Alberto as Liverpool’s newest addition to the revolution Rodgers has instigated this summer.
