Spanish right-back Maquillo in action for Atletico
With Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno’s move taking it’s time, Liverpool today completed the signing of another Spanish youngster, in Javier Manquillo.
The 20-year old right-back signs on a loan move which could become permanent, as the Reds reportedly beat Arsenal to the signing of the young Spanish U-20 international. The defender has played barely 5 games for Atletico Madrid but is highly-rated by many and will look to provide competition for the right-back spot next season.
Speaking to LFC.TV today, the youngster said “When they tell you Liverpool want to sign you, like any player, you are going to be absolutely amazed and you don’t think of anything else other than going straight there.
“The club is one of the biggest in Europe, no English club has won more European Cups. It has a superb history and is a team that nowadays any player would want to be a part of.”
Many will be eager to get their first glimpse of the player at the weekend and he may take part in the squad to face German giants Borussia Dortmund at Anfield.
