Official: Alberto Moreno Signs for Liverpool FC

Alberto has become another part of the Reds’ jigsaw

Following one of the most drawn-out transfer sagas in the Reds’ history, Alberto Moreno has finally signed for Liverpool.

The young Spanish full-back becomes the 8th new signing this summer for the club and will no doubt become the first-choice left back. Signed from Sevilla for a snip at just £12 million, Moreno has all the attributes to become one of the best full-backs in Europe and, in many ways, shares a lot with former Liverpool left back, John Arne Riise. And if Alberto can emulate his first few seasons as a Red, then it will be money well spent.

Speaking to LFC.TV this evening, Moreno said “They [Alonso, Reina & Arbeloa] all told me I can grow a lot here as a footballer as this is a massive club. I’m very happy to be joining a club as big as Liverpool. I hope to give my best and do all I can to help.”

Sadly, the 22 year old was not signed in time to be registered for the squad to face Southampton on Sunday afternoon but will train with his team-mates over the next week or so and be available for the second round of games. The signing means that Liverpool now have 2 top players in almost every position, leaving just a back-up ‘keeper and a replacement striker on the long shopping list that Brendan and his team have been methodically working through this summer.
