Liverpool appoint a new head of the club charity

Liverpool Football Club has appointed Andrea Cooper as Head of Liverpool FC Foundation, the Club’s official charity.

Andrea brings a wealth of charity and community experience being a trustee on three charities including six years with Street League which improves the lives of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds through the power of football.

Most recently, Andrea has been working as Chief Executive of UpRising – a UK youth leadership development organisation that equips young adults with knowledge and skills to transform their local communities.

Ian Ayre, Chief Executive Officer of Liverpool Football Club and Deputy Chair of the Liverpool FC Foundation’s Trustees, said: “As a global football club with millions of fans worldwide, we are in a privileged position to be able to give back to our local community here in Merseyside and around the world.

“Our Foundation provides a positive influence to the lives of many young people and adults, and I am delighted to welcome Andrea to this important role to build on the fantastic work our charity has been delivering for over 20 years.”

Andrea also has other business and operational experience including the BBC where she worked on the Digital Switchover Help Scheme and the £800m New Broadcasting House project.  She will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the Liverpool FC Foundation including the strategic direction, operations and attracting investment which includes fundraising opportunities to support the Foundation’s programmes.

Andrea was brought up in Liverpool and is delighted to return to the city.

“It’s a real honour to join the Foundation of Liverpool Football Club, she said.

“Using football as a catalyst to improve people’s lives is extremely close to my heart and there is a real opportunity here to build on the brilliant work that’s been done to date and further develop the Foundation.”
