Rodgers to Use Liverpool Strength in Depth For Upcoming Games

Liverpool manager will face some tough selection decisions in the coming games

With the Reds facing the prospect of 5 games in 14 days, Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool squad is about to face one of it’s toughest 2 weeks since he joined the club.

Speaking to the press during his pre-Aston Villa press conference, Rodgers said “We’ve planned the teams out for the next five games all the way through to Everton, but of course you have to allow for injuries and such,” revealed Rodgers at his press conference ahead of the Villa encounter.

“It’s something we were working hard on during the international break. It’s very important to be able to rotate, but also to maintain the consistency from the team and I think the best sides are able do that.

“There will be changes in games, but there won’t be wholesale changes because as I’ve said, you still need that core group of players to get you through.”

As reported in the past few days, Liverpool are likely to be missing one or two keys players from the international break, as well as some more long-term absentees so Rodgers will undoubtedly have to utilise the full extent of his new-look, fully-strengthened Liverpool squad.

The period of games coming up for the Reds will almost certainly give fans and observers a much better idea about how far the club have truly strengthened over the summer months and provide one or two of the newer signings with an opportunity to stake a claim in the side with some of their team-mates suffering with injury.
