Liverpool fans sadly saw Daniel Agger move on this week

It has been a tough week for the fans following the departure of the 29 year old center back, the vice captain of the Reds, Daniel Agger. They can take solace from the fact that Liverpool thrashed the Spurs at the Lane. It was quite emotional when the travelling fans chanted Daniel’s name. Agger was a big part of the club for a good eight and a half years before signing for his former club, Brondby, at his homeland. Liverpool will miss his service.

Agger has tattooed the letters YNWA on his fingers showing his loyalty and love towards the club. Here is his open letter to the fans who will stay in his heart forever.

Liverpool has been such a big part of my life and my family’s lives for so long that leaving is extremely difficult.

“I’ll start by saying that Liverpool fans constantly keep surprising me. Since the news broke about the transfer, I have received so many positive messages and well-wishing for the future – not just from supporters in Liverpool but across the world.

“My family and I have always felt your backing, it is something unique to this football club, this city and our supporters – it’s been a privilege to have represented this club and I’m forever thankful for everything I have learnt during my time here.

“When I joined this great club, I came here as a 21 year old boy with a lot to learn. Liverpool has helped me grow up and shape me into the man I am today. I’m proud of who I’ve become and I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my time at Liverpool.

“I’ve been honoured to live in this close knit city and my experiences as a Liverpudlian are unforgettable. I’d finally like to wish the club all the best for this season. I’ll be supporting you every step of the way, as will millions of others. You’ll Never Walk Alone.

– Daniel Agger.

There can’t be anything else that can prove his love, respect for the club and nothing more evident that he’ll miss this city and the fans. It’s an emotional moment for all of us. Good luck, Dan. We love you. YNWA.

Back to gameweek 3, Spurs lost to Liverpool comfortably just like the previous two fixtures against them. Liverpool played to their strengths and constantly pressed them high up in the field and impeded their flow. Moreover, they were brilliant while attacking while still showing defensive weaknesses.  The defensive frailties should be bandaged if we are going keep up the good performances week in and week out.

Rodgers’ latest signing, Balotelli ‘Super’ Mario, had a cracking start just missing out on a goal during the opening minutes of the game courtesy of a Hugo Lloris save. Well, he could have got a goal or two, actually! Seems like a good signing and hope he causes trouble to all the teams (Liverpool not included).
