So, the ‘international injury football curse’ strikes again as Daniel Sturridge is apparently out for three weeks and I have to say, it’s a good job we have other options to choose from isn’t it.
I feel this is a perfect opportunity for Fabio Borini to step in and make a bold statement on the field and I hope to see Brendan Rodgers give him a real chance.
I admire Borini’s enthusiasm because I’m sure he knew how difficult it would be to get into the Liverpool squad, challenging Sturridge, Balotelli and Lambert but he seems willing to fight for his place. A player of his age at 23, wants to be playing regular football week in, week out.
To see two Italians leading the line would be quite interesting and both Borini and Balotelli have played previously together at youth level. If it works for Liverpool, it would allow us to know that there is another option out there as we can’t be relying on a Sturridge and Balotelli partnership – due to the joy of injuries.
Borini played a key part in Swansea’s promotion to the Premier League in 2011 and he had a terrific season at Sunderland last season, contributing to their relegation survival, so it is proven that he can make a difference and score those important goals.
Remember when Borini first signed? The huge expectation surrounding him because he was Rodgers’ first signing at Liverpool and he had previously played under him at Swansea? I don’t feel he has been given enough time to display that expectation.
When Borini made the move, he revealed that it was Balotelli who whilst playing for AC Milan, urged him to join Liverpool because he claimed the club has the ‘most exciting fans’ and now coincidentally, Balotelli has joined the Reds. Football can be a funny sport sometimes.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see Rodgers go with Balotelli up front on his own against Aston Villa, that would work and probably be a safer option to go with, but it would be nice to see Borini feature, even if he came on as a substitute. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work and fine, wait until January if he has no place in this side, but just give him that chance first.
Imagine the scenes if he came on and scored a winner. I can picture the headlines already.

Am a fun of borini , I have watch him play for sunderland the guy is amazing n has good runs goin forward all we need is give him confidence and rodgers should guarantee him safety
I am still optimistic borini we soon be praise by some promimant display if called upon
He can do better if given good chance but many back ups in liverpool is a problem to him
Borini is a useless striker and so too is Ricky Lambert. Liverpool would have been much better off if Rodgers had signed Loic Remy in addition to Balotelli. Then at least we would have had top class strikers, knowing fully well how injury prone Sturridge is.
