Claims in the French and British press state that Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool are to take a closer look at Ghana’s Marseille winger, Andrew Ayew who has been in impressive form for the Ligue 1 side against this season.

The 24 year old has been in highly impressive form since breaking into the Marseille side in 2010 and has been an ever present influence since, playing over 170 times, chipping in 51 goals and 18 assists.

A long-time target for the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and a host of other top European clubs, Ayew is one of very few names that wasn’t associated with Liverpool this season but Liverpool are now reported to have shown interest in the player who’s contract runs down at the end of the season.

Having lost superstar striker Daniel Sturridge to injury for most of the current season – to date – and having seen Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli struggle to cover up front in his absence, Liverpool could really do with a pacy, trickster as back up going forward and Ayew could be just that man for Brendan Rodgers side.

Would Liverpool be daft not to make a move for a top quality player yet to hit his prime, particularly when he won’t cost more than a signing on fee and a new contract?

another flop on the way. why don’t we get rid of the flops we already have? and why not get ibe back from derby? i am sick to death of this club signing rubbish. we have talented young players such as ibe, wilson, ojo, rossiter and phillips. if you’re good enough you’re old enough. give them a chance instead of getting more rubbish over here

Rodger is a stupid coach.. he has tried to convince everybody with in 16m flop signing…. But he have a hungry younger striker who is ready to work hard for the team.. Just make use of borini in 3 matches.. I’m sure he’s gonna be a better striker

Last season borini went on loan to sunderland and we all see that he have the strength and his walking rate is perfect.. He’s will surely become a goal getter with is energy and working rate

Borini? I mean seriously some of you guys are deluded or just plain daft!!

Ayew will be a good addition to the team. But Br. Is brainless, he prefer average player to quality player thats why he is getting average result.

  • Femi says:

@julius, i completely agree with. Rodgers should pls give borini 3-4 matches to prove that he’s capable of leading our attack in Danny’s absence.
