There was some misplaced disappointment from a minority of Reds fans over the summer when Fabio Borini opted to reject a move to Sunderland. A move that would have netted Liverpool over £14 million, which would have represented over £2 million in profit on a player that had barely made 10 starts for the club.
But now he’s here, Borini says he is here to stay and wants to make his mark at the club. When speaking to LFC.TV on Thursday, Borini said “Step by step, to get into the team as soon as possible and as much as possible.
“After that, I want to stay in the team, score goals and break my scoring record in the Premier League, and perform. I haven’t changed my personality, but I have improved my game.
“I can offer hard work in performances every week and goals, as I did in the past. For Sunderland, I did very well and scored important goals.”
The form of the young Italian at Sunderland last season was one of the reasons the club managed to avoid relegation, even going so far as to gain enough points to look comfortable by the time the season finally ended.
Fabio contintued, “I can do the same here; with better players around me, it could probably be easier and with better results. I want to get back in the national team as well because that’s a big aim.”
