The former Liverpool player, manager and club legend Kenny Dalglish was in Spain this evening to present former Liverpool player, Luis Suarez, with his ‘Golden Shoe’ award for being top scorer in Europe last season.

Barca player Suarez scored 31 goals in all competitions for Liverpool last season and dedicated his award to his former Liverpool team-mates. Suarez, who was presented the award to the sounds of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ ringing out said “My three-and-a-half years there were spectacular and I would not have won this without them.

“I would also like to thank the man who who brought me to the club, ” continued Suarez, referring to King Kenny himself.

After another eventful summer for Suarez, the player will finally get the opportunity to make his Barca debut when the Catalan side take on arch nemeses, Real Madrid, on 25th October.

And while Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard wasn’t available to attend himself, he did send Suarez a message from Anfield via video, in which he said “Good luck for the future mate we wish you well. Thanks for everything you did last season for us. Barcelona are very lucky to have you.”
