Lallana has seen some vast improvement in his form in recent weeks

After initially getting off to a slow start at Liverpool (mostly because of injury) Adam Lallana finally got a goal at the weekend and put in a superb performance against West Brom. With more displays along the same lines Liverpool will have a really top midfielder on their hands and that is exactly what Lallana himself is hoping to do.

Speaking at the team press conference at the England camp today, Lallana said “It has been a good week, more so because we got the three points at the weekend. And to get a goal was nice.

“I’m starting to feel back to full sharpness now. It had been a tough start having been injured, but after a lot of hard work and putting the hours in I feel good now.

“I’m always looking to impress in training and for my club. We’ve got a lot of talented players and there’s always competition for places out there. I’m hungry to do well and impress.”

It took many fans some time to take to the signing of the former Southampton captain but his recent improvements have seen most begin to warm to the player, whose work-rate and infectious desire to drag the team through the rough-patch – along with VC Henderson – was the primary reason for the Reds hard fought win at the weekend.

While the international break may have come – again – at the wrong time for his club, the player himself will no doubt see the next 2 games as further opportunity to improve on his performances and bring that extra match-sharpness back to Liverpool when the Premier League season recommences in 2 weeks time.
