Sturridge will become a big influence for Liverpool on his return

With hopefully only a few more games to pass before Daniel Sturridge’s return, Brendan Rodgers has backed the England striker to be a massive influence on his team. The former Man City, Bolton and Chelsea striker has been absolutely prolific since his arrival and his presence in the team has become more & more appreciated in his absence.

On the subject of his star forward, Brendan Rodgers said “Top players have such an influence on the team.

“When you are under the cosh, you know that you have strikers who can score out of nothing. It is a big weapon. Sturridge is one of them.

“That is where we aim to get with Daniel. When he comes back into the team, you will see the confidence because of the movement and the dynamic.

“We just have to work without and while we are doing that, we are staying up and around the top end of the table. Everyone can see our conditions are different to work in this season. The players are working their best.”

As the Reds return to the lesser light of the Capital One Cup tonight, Mario Balotelli will likely be rested, while Sturridge’s absence will mean that the likes of Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert may have a chance to show why they should be leading the line in Daniel’s absence.

Have the Reds missed Dan this season as much as it seems, or would he have struggled just as much in this team the way it’s playing at the moment? Let us know your views in the comments.

Sorry BR, Sturridge will be good up front but he wont organise the defence will he?

It took a long absence for Daniel to be appreciated. He has proven what I have been saying from the first time I saw the young man come on as a substitute in a Chelsea game. I thought then that he would be a phenomenal player and his performances has not only cemented that idea, but also made me realize that he will be a World Class Player.
