On Adam Lallana

The first article that I wrote for Live4liverpool was on why Adam Lallana was just the kind of player Liverpool needed and I am extremely proud on guessing his role right. He has now become an important fit in the side. He is providing something that was missing from Liverpool’s game especially after injuries to Allen and Sturridge. He is linking the midfield and attack efficaciously with unbelievable energy.

He has been working his heart out which was also evident in the game against Everton and his post-goal celebration against West Brom says all about his desire to score goals and win games for the Reds.

On the Reds

Apart from sporadic display of brilliance, Liverpool are yet to find their rhythm and form of last year.

It occurred to me after the game against Basel that the manager is actually entirely responsible for the poor run of form. He is tentative on making the right changes to strike a good balance in the team. The midfield and the attack don’t seem to gel and creativity in the final third is lacking.

Raheem Sterling is being made to play every single game in all tournaments including the game against Middlesbrough in the Capital One cup where he played the entire 120 minutes. Every time he’s on the pitch, I can only think about when fatigue will creep in which will be a huge blow for Sterling as well as the team.

In addition to that, he has to fulfill the expectations of Roy Hodgson during his national duty (which Hodgson has again handled disastrously). Rodgers is not handling Sterling’s situation well either, I feel.

On the defense

The defense is still fragile. The manager had all the money and time in the world to strengthen the back four but I guess the lesson has not been learned from last year.

And I’m not even going to talk about our goalkeeping options. I hope he motivates the team to make a surge towards the top four soon. With Manchester United finding their form back, the race to the top four will be arduous and grueling.

And finally..

Liverpool are reportedly close to signing Dele Alli, an English youngster, who has been constantly in the headlines for sometime now. We’d like to welcome such a talent to Anfield.
