Balotelli shouldn’t be the scapegoat but he is a huge problem for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers

After a game like last night’s it’s always hard to provide a fair assessment of where things went wrong and who to burden with the blame. The reason for this, of course, being that despite a relatively decent first 25 minutes, the entire team was poor.

The biggest embarrassment was reserved for half time, when Mario Balotelli chose to swap shirts with Pepe and – seemingly – confirm that his head wasn’t particularly in the game at all.

The LFC under nineteen team did beat their Real Madrid equivalent. Maybe we need to bring some of these youngsters in. Anybody is better than Glen Johnson- even a pantomime horse would have more impact.

I think the article gives a good account of how the team performed. No-one seems to be blaming Brenda though. He may be a good coach but he’s a poor manager who doesn’t seem able to make the right tactical choices and continues to fail to change things if it is not going right. He showed this last year as well. His purchases of players have been shocking (Coutinho and Sturridge were on the radar long before he arrived.

For me though the biggest mistake was signing Mignolet. The defence is poor because they are not being marshalled by the keeper. A keeper doesn’t just make saves and catch crosses he is the key organiser of the defence he should be telling them what to do and where the danger is coming from as he has the best view of anyone. Mignolet doesn’t do this and this is made worse by there not being a leader in the defence. Mignolet’s distribution is appalling too.

Going forward given the injuries and the players who are just not interested I would play the following v Hull

Mignolet (because Brad Jones isn’t any better)
    Manquillo Skrtel Lovren Moreno
Henderson Can Allen (no place for Gerrard – his legs have gone)
Coutinho (at the head of the diamond)
Sterling Borini (don’t rate him but he’s better than Lambert and makes runs unlike Balotelli)

I would like to see Suso given some game time (replace Sterling after 60mins – he cant play every minute of every game)

Brendan Rogers must go. He’s nothing more to offer LFC. He is tactically naive and lost the plot of making Liverpool fc a better club. The players lack confidence and defence is the worst ever I have seen in my entire football life. Lovren is awful, as for Johnson he’s gone awol. Mignolet can’t be a goal keeper. Brendan has to go.

Selling Agger was a big mistake. Balotelli is never a liver pool kind of player. We invested in the wrong players.

Get shaqiri, bakka, begovic, konoplyanka, song

  • Pamah Jackson says:

When other managers were signings players outside the premier league, Rogers was busy within. Kenny Daglish did the same and now Rogers. Amount spent is just a waste. Pepe Reina is better than Rogers number one, yet he allowed him go because of pride.

  • Diego 'Digger' Souness says:

The whole team was garbage, the coaching is abysmal and we dont have a world class player like Suarez to lift the team anymore. A shambles by FSG to sell Suarez, he signed a new long term 200k a week contract last winter but FSG couldnt resist taking the 75m. Flippin mugs.

  • hammed says:

all Liverpool management are acting poorly. they can sell a quality player like Suarez but they can not get a player in that quality? why selling such a player when you knew that uefa champion is in hand? and you want to challenge for premier league?

    Brendan Rogers: 4
A poor , ovetpromotted manager who can’t buy players, knows little about tactics. On the other hand, he is brilliant at media management … In particular tabloids who see him as a flag barrer , a shinning example of an young upper coming English manager who proves a point…
In fact, he was poor on his first season, give the worse start ever, and finished mid table with Suarez in the team…
Second season was down to one player taking the team to the brink of winning the league despite/not because if Brendan. In actual fact, he is the one eyes prince in the land of the blind.
His job was to sort the defence. Failed! Year 3 now. He’s excuse, we need more time in training, but he had plenty of time last year! And the one before and now! 70 million spend on defenders, no improvement whatsoever/none.
End of the season, this clown ha to go.

  • Erin says:

Oh, and when he finally leaves liverpool, it will be Newcastle his next job. No club in Europe will even speak to this guy. We were conned
