Liverpool FC Foundation in Sofia, Bulgaria.Liverpool FC Foundation coaches visited Bulgaria this week to deliver training sessions to local children during the Club’s visit to Sofia for its Champion’s League fixture with Ludogorets.

In partnership with the British Embassy and UNICEF, the Foundation delivered two training sessions on Wednesday 26th November 2014 at Park Zaimov in the Bulgarian capital, with 40 children of all abilities from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The participants, which were all selected by UNICEF, were split into two groups of 20 and received an hour long intensive training session by two fully qualified community coaches.

The sessions are part of the Foundation’s International provision, which uses the power of football to provide inspirational opportunities to a diverse range of individuals and community groups.

Through the support of global partners, the programme delivers professional coaching clinics and educational workshops.

A special reception at the UK’s Ambassador’s residence was held last night [Tuesday 25th November 2014] to welcome Liverpool FC Foundation to Bulgaria on their inaugural visit.

Over 100 guests attended the event including, members from Government and local businesses, which will included addresses from the Ambassador’s wife, the Embassy, UNICEF and the Foundation.

A signed LFC jersey, ball and a special edition PS4 FIFA 15 game signed by Daniel Sturridge was donated by Foundation and will be auctioned off to raise funds for UNICEF.

Andrea Cooper, head of Liverpool FC Foundation attended the visit, she said: “We were delighted to visit Bulgaria for the first time and offer our support to the British Embassy and UNICEF in the delivery of coaching sessions for local children.

“We are dedicated to providing sporting opportunities around the world and establishing a legacy in the countries we visit.”
