Rodgers has it all to do to get his side through their tough Champions League group

As the team prepares to face Ludogorets in Sofia this evening, Brendan Rodgers has stated that he needs to see more aggression from his players, if the current poor run of form is to be turned around.

Speaking to LiverpoolFC.com, he said “We need to be more tenacious, more aggressive and have a greater capacity to defend better as a team.

“When there are moments to defend, you have to defend better – and that’s something that we’ll look to do.”

After the Reds let in three more league goals away to relegation-threatened opposition on Sunday, the defensive and midfield deficiencies were once again hammered home to the club and Rodgers and there needs to be a more collective effort to restrict opposition opportunities in every game.

With the Champions League group in a very precarious position, only a victory away at the Bulgarian champions will do for Liverpool and anything less will surely see increasing pressure mount on the Northern Irishman.

Of course, the Champions League group stages have acted as a catalyst to amazing Liverpool comebacks in the past and it would be daft to write the side off now, with it’s back firmly against the wall.

Can Liverpool still qualify from this group, or is the best we can hope for a third placed finish?
