Xherdan Shaqiri has the ability to elevate Liverpool should he sign in January

I bet you thought you’d escaped from the ‘Shaqiri to move to Liverpool’ rumours? Well, you’d be wrong as the press – specifically, BILD – are at it again reporting that, despite interest from Manchester United, Liverpool remain favourites to sign the Swiss attacker.

After pushing very close to bringing Shaqiri to Anfield last season, Brendan Rodgers reportedly still has him at the top of his list of attacking players to sign, either in January or next summer, but it is highly unlikely that the Reds will be offered a clear path through which to sign the current Bayern Munich wide player.

With the potential fee ranging from anywhere between £18-24 million, the signing of Shaqiri is likely to take a significant wedge from any transfer funds the Liverpool manager is given in January, so this is a signing that may well have to be put on hold until next year, unless funds can be raised in sales during the transfer window.

After having been told last summer that his future was at Bayern, the winger has seen more game time this season – so far – than he had last but he is supposedly still quite frustrated at not yet being a first-choice, despite having turned 23 in October and it appears that he may be quite keen on a move to Anfield.

Would Shaqiri go some way to replacing the talent and goals of Suarez, or should Liverpool again be setting their sights even higher still as the search carries on?

SHAQIRI, ISCO, KONOPLYANKA, CUADRADO, VERTONGHEN, MONTOYA, BEGOVIC
    Is the answer to LIVERPOOL.

We should do all it takes to get them.

Our attack should be 4-3-3 KONOPLYANKA, SHAQIRI, CUADRADO.

Midfield should be ISCO,COUTINHO, GERRARD (CAN / HENDERSON).

Then Defence MORENO, VERTONGHEN, SKRTEL, MONTOYA.

    Keeper should be BEGOVIC.

    2ND ELEVEN IN 4-3-3 FORMATION

    The Attack:
    LALLANA, STURRIDGE, STERLING

    The Midfield:
    ALLEN, SUSO, HENDERSON/CAN/LUCAS

    The Defence:
    ENRIQUE, LOVREN, SAKHO, MANQUILLO

    Keeper:
    MIGNOLET

This is nothing but wishful thinking. We missed the opportunity to sign him last summer. Ayre & co have being so naive & senseless in all lfc transfer dealings so far. If we have offered the 20m wasted on markovic to bayern for shaqiri, they may have sold him to us & ,we would have been ten times better for it today. It is a pity that after spending over 100m we don’t have a single world class player.I. M. O, Ayre has failed lfc & should be sacked .
