FSG have laid their plans for the expansion of Liverpool’s famous old stadium

With the club having chased Anfield expansion for over a decade now, it finally appears that the club is on the cusp of beginning the work on the legendary ground that would increase capacity to 54,000 with the addition of 8,500 seats to the Main Stand.

Work is expected to begin in the first half of 2015, with all work to be completed by the end of the 2016-17 season. In the mean-time, matches will still be played at the ground, despite the works taking place.

LFC chairman, Tom Werner, speaking of the subject of expanding the ground said, “Since Fenway Sports Group took ownership of the club, we were committed to explore in depth all options for the future of Anfield Stadium. We listened to fans, the community, partners, the Supporters’ Committee and key stakeholders involved in the club.
