The Baggies striker has been linked to Liverpool since September

After a brilliant start to the current campaign West Brom’s Saido Berahino was one of the big prospects and a sure signing for all the Premier League’s top sides and, despite a slight downturn in form in the past two months, those rumours have showed no signs of slowing down with Liverpool reportedly set to battle with Tottenham for the striker’s signing.

At the present time, it’s unclear whether Liverpool would be looking to sign the England striker in January or the summer but previous stories over the weekend claimed the West Brom star was considering pushing for a move in the January transfer window.

With fees ranging anywhere from £15-25 million one thing is clear: any potential moves for the player will come with that particularly irritating English premium, meaning better options may be available abroad for the Reds in particular.

Having scored 17 goals in his last 50 games for West Brom the striker certainly has an eye for goal, if not being prolific, and his 8 in 15 show a player clearly improving with age.

But for the fees being reported, a player of much higher calibre or greater experience may be available and its unlikely that FSG will allow the club to be bitten again, as it seems they were over the summer with many overpriced signings.

Is the possibility of signing Berahino a positive one or should Liverpool be setting its’ sights much higher than that? Let us know below.

Liverpool keep on tracking average strikers , why not take alexander lacazetta , pedro, or higuan and this shows ambition of a team not over paying for young unproven footballers
