Jordan explains why the goal means so much to the Liverpool players

While the result away on Saturday afternoon might not necessarily live long in the memory the celebration of the Liverpool players following the second goal, a Rickie Lambert effort from the edge of the box, certainly will.

Speaking of the celebration, Liverpool’s captain on the day Jordan Henderson told Liverpoolfc.com “You can see how much it means to Rickie. But as a team it meant a lot to get the three points. It was very, very pleasing.

“First half, I thought we controlled the game well and had quite a few chances to go 2-0 up. We knew that in the second half they would come out and make it very difficult, putting the ball into the box early, but I thought we dealt with it really well.

“I thought the back three – as well as the goalkeeper – were fantastic, dealing with the long balls and the set pieces. As a team, we were very solid. Thankfully we got the second goal with a great finish from Rick.”

The Reds took all three points, making it just 1 defeat in the last 14 games and the team are looking in good form at present, while the imminent return of star striker who has been missing for 5 months, Daniel Sturridge, will only further boost the team.

With Chelsea coming up on Tuesday night in the 1st leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final, let’s hope we’re seeing the team celebrating with the crowd once again.
