Liverpool’s other Spanish left-back, Jose Enrique, appears determined to fight for his place at Anfield – according to the Liverpool Echo, despite interest in recent days from new Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew who is keen to reunite with the player at his new club.

Enrique has been at Anfield since his move from Newcastle in August 2011 but the past 18 months have been marred by injuries and a loss of form and it seems that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers would be open to allowing the player to leave.

But Enrique, now having returned to full fitness, is very keen to fight to get back into the Liverpool side, where he has seemingly fallen behind Moreno as first-choice left-back, whilst the Reds also have Glen Johnson and the returning Jon Flanagan who are also capable of deputising at left-back.

At 28, Enrique will still no doubt have a reasonable sell-on value and with his game time likely to be limited for the remainder of this season, at least, it remains to be seen whether the club will be as keen for the player to stay as he is, even if only on loan until the end of the season; effectively putting the player in the shop window until the summer window.

Are you in favour of retaining Enrique’s services for the time being, or is this the right time to cash in on the left-back? Let us know your thoughts below.

in other words he’d rather sit on the bench like borini and pick up his wages than actually go somewhere else and play. 14m we could have got for borini and he wouldn’t go. does he really think he’ll get a look in after that?
