Lavezzi in action for PSG

It wouldn’t be a modern transfer window if Liverpool weren’t linked with one of three from: Alexandre Lacazette, Ezequiel Lavezzi or Christian Benteke and, in the past 24 hours, the rumour mill has not let us down as the Reds have been linked with all three.

But the two that will interest Liverpool fans the most are the two French-based forwards, Lacazette and Lavezzi who have both been on any number of wish-lists for the past couple of years.

The French striker, Lacazette, has had a stellar season, scoring 19 times and has been strongly linked with Manchester City during this window but with City now having signed Wilfried Bony, it’s unlikely they’ll go in for another striker, despite the 23 year old having his best season to date and with none of the top Premier League sides being short of a top striker or two, it may leave the window open for the Reds to make a move.

Mark this one down as unlikely though, as Lacazette is likely to fall into the Gonzalo Higuain price-range, i.e. well out of our market.

On the other hand, Ezequiel Lavezzi is a much more likely prospect, apparently valued at £8 million by PSG who are keen to get what they see as a troublesome player and a drain on potential wage-funds off their books.

As talented as Lavezzi may be, it seems quite strange why Liverpool would now be willing to break from their usual strategy of bringing in young talent (with the exception of cheaper players) for a forward that is far from prolific, particularly one that has recently fallen out with his manager but, who are we to question the transfer committee?

Let us know your thoughts on these two in the comments below.

Lacazette—too expensive, wont go to lfc anyway.
Lavezzi—too old and slow, wont pay his wages at lfc anyway

lavezzi is a playerwith no end product, he can’t keep his crosses inside, misses easy chances, makes wrong decision, his only positive attribute is sprint. lacazette is quality.

Lacazette is a better option, is age is ok and he is a quality player.

Brandon forget about any other signings for now and concentrate on this three and we are all set for everything. Lacazette, Alex song, and Bolasie. That’s all we need to boost the club.
