Markovic has been in great form over the past few weeks

After a superb goal and seeing a wonderful volley hit the woodwork, Lazar Markovic was rightly given man of the match by many and all of the talk about the player in the days since has been about his quality with the ball.

But for Brendan Rodgers, the 20-year old’s hard work off the ball is equally important “I’ve been delighted with Lazar. We brought him here because he’s a top talent.

“It’s never easy for players, especially the young players who are coming into the team and into the country. So he’s adapting very, very well.

“His strike that hit the crossbar was incredible technique and he scored his goal. But I thought overall his ability to press the ball when we didn’t have it was very good.

“He was strong, he was physically hard to beat. And then when we had the ball, we asked him to be creative and I thought he was outstanding.”

Markovic was moved across to play at wing-back before Christmas and has since seen his performances improve dramatically and the player’s willingness to work for the cause has really enhanced his contributions.

Rodgers clearly believes that the young Serb’s efforts are to key to his continued adaptation in the Premier League, and long may it continue.

I believe given three years of playing together and continued improvements by the young Liverpool players, this Liverpool team will win the UCL and waltz the world.
the young boys of emre can, sterling, coutinho, marcovic, sturridge, moreno, manquillo if he stays, ibe, Henderson and origi will be world beaters. all we need to do is to keep them together and get them mature players to guide them eg. skirtel and maybe good strikers n a mid like pirlo to learn from.
I’m just sad that suso is leaving. hope we have a buy back option.
