Liverpool are in dire need of a pick me up this year

Well here we are in 2015, eagerly awaiting Hover Boards, self-tying trainers and Sports Almanacs. Whilst we can rest easy that Biff is unlikely to get his casino dream now, what should be the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, according to my distant relative Andy (probably) feels more like a New Year in Eastenders, grey, miserable and getting worse.

We endured a difficult summer losing a world class talent whilst seemingly failing to capitalise on our wonderful season prior. This was followed by an opening half of the current season in a manner best described as stop/start (if I’m being kind), not helped in the slightest with the discovery that some of Daniel Sturridge’s muscles are seemingly made from papier-mâché. If this wasn’t bad enough, a much heralded youth star is being allowed to walk away for nowt, something that seems inexplicable when you think how much we are spending on ‘potential’, our apparent efforts to spend more money on a player we own just to have him back and to top it all off the huge body blow of Stevie saying ta-ra. Its beginning to feel like we are Rocky Balboa, pummeled, bruised, bloodied and down on our knees crying Ayre-drian AYRE-DRIAN.

From the outside looking in there is a certain bleakness in the air at present. The team is suffering with having to circumnavigate yet another period of transition in our recent history and I have even seen some quarters suggest that we are becoming akin to Aston Villa, but I’m not having that, not with the amount of money we have spent!

The club is hurting at the moment, Gerrard is the heartbeat, the local connection to the fans, the soul of the club. Whilst I do not believe, now, that he should be a regular starter I do think it was imperative that he stayed, but I am realistic enough to know that in reality this was never a simple issue with politics and money from both sides dictating proceedings I imagine. His departure I think will be felt more in the areas away from the public gallery such as Melwood, the academy and the dressing room. Experience and influence is a rare and valuable attribute. This body blow was compounded with the news of Suso going, a player many reds thought would be what Sterling is now. As is the way with such hurt we want to lash out we want to blame and Liverpool, FSG and Rodgers are taking the flak, what we need is PR for BR really! Here are some suggestions:

you are right. my dilemma is whether to blame Rodgers for all these or fsg. I concur with you on the samy hyppia issue and also the retention of our good players. lovren is bad. but I don’t know whether its the tactical defense training that’s a problem or the personnel.
