The Liverpool striker returned to the team and got back into the swing of scoring goals in no time this afternoon

At last the day we’ve all dreamed about for months has finally arrived: Daniel Sturridge is officially back. We knew it was likely to be today but that doesn’t take away from the fact that having your top striker back after 5 months out can give your team that much-needed boost ahead of the rest of the season.

With a Champions League place still up for grabs (and getting ever closer) and the possibility of a cup, Sturridge’s return could not be more timely and, given how long he has missed, provided he is managed properly, there should be no concerns of burnout from February 1st onwards.

Of course, most fans would have been happy just to see him return but, in true Sturridge style, he one ups our own expectations and scores within 12 minutes of coming into the game from the bench.

How great was it to see that dance again? Long may that continue! Click through below for our player ratings.
