The transfer window may have closed but that doesn’t mean you get to escape transfer stories! A number of sources, including talkSPORT and one or two nationals are reporting that Liverpool are expected to make Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan a prime target over the summer transfer window.
The Armenian international was previously a target for Brendan Rodgers’ team but a deal wasn’t possible in the end. However, it seems the Reds won’t have it all their own way with Arsenal also rumoured to be interested.
The Dortmund star has continued his great form since his move from Donetsk, scoring 14 goals in his 60+ games since his £24 million move to the German giants. However, with the club currently sitting at the bottom of the table in the Bundesliga, Mkhitaryan is one of a host of players looking for a summer exit, with the prospect of the German’s clawing themselves back to the top half of the table before the season ends.
The player’s agent, Mino Raiola, told the German newspaper Bild “Henrikh wants to leave Dortmund at the end of the season.
“We will have to wait and see what we can do.”
For an attacking midfielder with a record of more than 1 goal every 3 games (110 in 300 games), the Armenian superstar is likely to be in high demand in the summer and, with the Reds looking to add goals to a dynamic (but some what profligate) young team, the 26 year old would appear to be an ideal fit.
Would you welcome the signing of the Armenian, or should we look elsewhere, having been turned down by him before?
Twelve games , no goals this season , this ship has sailed . He is in dreadful form .
Are you suggesting we buy him and sell Coutinho , no thank you !
Just read this article again and cannot see the name Coutinho – why do you think it suggests selling him to buy Mkhitaryan?
Can’t help but think f#k him, he had the choice to come to us and turned us down, go for someone who wants to be at Anfield and isnt gonna want to bail if things go wrong.
Try for Gundogan Lars Bender & Reus….. lets turn them into Southampton………….. HAHAHA
He is a great player and would probably be contesting for a place with lallana rather than coutinho. Brendan tried everything to sign him but he chose Dortmund as they were the team of the moment at the time, so he would arrive with extra pressure and desire to win over the fans. Anyway we should be concentrating all efforts to fix the farce this club has created surrounding sterling before looking at more players. It’s beyond a joke that we are arguing over wages for probably the best player in the world at his age
If he was interested in LFC then why did he choose Dortmund? Didn’t work out and they are on the slide so abandoning ship. Let him abandon somewhere else I say.
Agree with all the previous comments. This guy has had chances to play for us and turned us down, now he and his team are doing horrendously and are bottom of the Bundesliege he’s linked to Liverpool again.
Don’t think attacking midfield is where we are struggling at the moment, agrees we need to strengthen are goalkeeper, attackers and cover for Lucas.
