Rodgers has confirmed that Sturridge could start in the derby on Saturday night

With the Merseyside derby the first in a long run of potentially hard games for the Reds, Brendan Rodgers will be keen to have all of his best players fit and raring to go, and that includes the now fully-fit Daniel Sturridge who may get a nod against Everton.

Speaking in his pre-Everton press conference, Rodgers said “Every player wants to play, not just Daniel. You go into each game and every player that gets paid here at the football club wants to play.

“Daniel is coming along very well. It’s not that he won’t start, we need to analyse that over the next couple of days. We shall see.”

It’s what many of us were hoping to hear, as the team again struggled to break down a well organised Bolton side on Wednesday in the FA Cup replay and a fully fit and firing Sturridge to take down a Blues’ side that are starting to come into some kind of good form themselves.

Is starting Sturridge against Everton a good idea, or should he be managed back into a starting berth? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
