Could the striker be on his way out before the end of the day?

Once again it’s time for Transfer Deadline Day. The one day where the football world goes berserk and turns into chaos.

Normally the big clubs try to stay away from last-ditch deals as they usually turn out to be panic buys, and this tendency is particularly prevalent on January Deadline Day compared to the summer. Nevertheless, planned deals can be dragged out, while surprising bids for players can trigger a merry-go-round as clubs look to replace the players they have lost.

There is always some drama on Deadline Day, which is why so many keep track on television, just in the hope that their club pulls off a deal (or at the very least everyone gets to see an interview with Harry Redknapp in his car!).

The biggest deal that looks to headline the first Deadline Day of 2015 seems to be Chelsea’s pursuit of Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado. Yet such is the incredible nature of the day, it wouldn’t be surprising to see that deal collapse and Andy Carroll go on the move again!

Liverpool have seen their fair share of last-ditch action in previous years, but Brendan Rodgers has been insisting that it is very unlikely the club will sign anyone in this window. However, this may be because the Reds need to sell before they can buy – not because they lack finance, but to manage the numbers in the squad and the wages with Financial Fair Play.

A striker is sorely needed and another centre-back would be fantastic, while the defensive midfield and goalkeeping situations can probably wait until the summer. Yet for this to happen, two players would in all likelihood have to leave to balance everything out.
