Brendan has given the squad a break but wants them back on top form once they’re back

With over 45 games already played this season the squad is being tested to its limits, in a way that it hasn’t before under Brendan Rodgers. But, at present, the manager appears to be reveling in the sheer amount of games the team is playing.

But with a longer than usual (for 2015) break occurring for the team at the moment, Rodgers is looking for his stars to come back firing, after giving the players a brief two day rest after a busy schedule ever since the Christmas period.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Rodgers said: “The players have two days off after everything they’ve put in over this period.

“And they deserve that because they have put so much effort into getting us into the position that we’re in. But after that, we’ll recover and be ready to go again.”

With an FA Cup replay and the potential for a semi and final in that competition, as well as the remaining Premier League fixtures, the Reds could conceivably be involved in another 13 games this season.

That would take the total to 59 – something the club have not endured since the heady days of Rafa Benitez but it will give the whole squad a chance to make their mark and Rodgers wants the whole team to ‘go again’ after their respite.

Rodgers continued: “Swansea is another big game for us and we want to continue performing to the level that has allowed us to pick up the number of points that we have.

“They deserve a rest, but we’ll get ready after those couple of days and look forward to the next game.”

Rodgers is pampering these overpaid prima donnas giving them breaks and time off for what? Embarrassing. This is an insult to the real hard working members of the public.
