Brendan will be hoping the good form continues at home to Burnley tonight

As Liverpool welcome Burnley to Anfield tonight, the contrast between the two sides couldn’t be more stark, with Liverpool now rated second in terms of in-form teams in Europe, whilst Sean Dyche’s side arrive without a Premier League win since 10th January.

In many ways, it was the 1-0 victory at Turf Moor back in December that kick-started Liverpool’s season, following a hard-fought – if somewhat quite fortunate – 2-2 at Anfield against Arsenal the previous week.

Danny Ings is likely to start for Burnley, giving Liverpool fans a chance to get a much closer look at a player the club are reported to be interested in signing in the summer. If Burnley are to wrestle anything from the game it is likely to be Ings who is the instigator.

For Liverpool, we may well see the return of Mamadou Sakho and Daniel Sturridge to the starting line-up, with the latter hopefully making his return from injury.

That will mean a couple of players dropping down to the bench or, if you prefer, being rested. For tonight’s game it could provide a good opportunity to rest both Emre Can and Raheem Sterling, with both looking a little bit weary toward the end of the win over Manchester City on Sunday.

The Team:

GK/Defence

Simon Mignolet – An obvious choice.

Mamadou Sakho – Sakho will hopefully return to the side this evening.

Martin Skrtel – Skrtel will continue his outstanding recent form against Burnley.

Dejan Lovren – Has done little wrong in recent games and should be afforded the opportunity to further redeem himself.

Full-backs

Lazar Markovic – May have had a couple of poor displays but a home game against apparently weaker opposition should be the perfect opportunity to hit form again.

Alberto Moreno – In good form at present but will require a break in the coming weeks.
