With rumours of Raheem Sterling looking at the possibility of moving to a club with Champions League football and supposedly better prospects of silverware in the summer, it stands to reason that Liverpool will be on the lookout for a replacement, and the likes of talkSport are claiming that Barcelona’s winger, Pedro, is being lined up as the man to fill the potential Sterling-sized void.
The 27 year old has been a long-time target, if you believe what you read, but is one of many mooted transfers that has never seemed even close to coming off. However, there are reports that his future at Barcelona are in doubt, with contract talks ongoing but not yet agreed a new deal to say in Spain.
The reports are that Arsenal are also interested and, much like the Sanchez move last summer, if the London club show a definite interest, then Liverpool themselves may have to look elsewhere. Particularly if there is a lack of Champions League football on offer at Anfield next season.
One thing that could work in the Reds favour though, is that, if Sterling does leave, there is likely to be a near-guaranteed spot in the team. Something Arsenal are perhaps unable to offer the Spaniard.
But considering that he has still played almost 30 games for the club, scoring 10 goals, it would be surprising if Barca were prepared to let a man that is still playing a big role at the club leave right in the middle of a transfer ban.
