With Liverpool taking on Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi today at Wembley stadium, the club, fans and players will feel that glory is within their grasp and will be looking to ensure that there are no slip ups.

Despite suffering with a slight injury this week, Daniel Sturridge is likely to feature and the striker believes that it is of great importance to Liverpool to get some silverware back to Anfield, after a few years without a trophy.

He said: “I look at it as something that’s important because it’s always great to have silverware in the cabinet.

“It’s still feasible for us to get into the top 4.

“Our priorities are top 4 and the FA Cup and we want to achieve both if possible.”

He continued: “We’ve not had a great season but we’re in a position now where we can finish in the top 4 and win the FA Cup and if you had asked people at the start of the season if you can guarantee Champions League football and win some silverware they would have probably been happy.

“But at the same time with the season we had last season we came so close to winning the league we set the bar very high and sometimes it’s difficult to keep it replicating that.

“But that’s what we’re working towards, being a team that can challenge every single season for silverware and for the title.”

Sturridge was speaking to BT Sport as part of its coverage of the FA Cup Semi Final and the Reds’ striker may well play a key part in the game, as Brendan Rodgers looks to end his third season at the club on a high, following the disappointment of missing out on the Premier League last year and the current disappointing season.
