Liverpool’s star man of the season – Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool FC’s midfielder, Philippe Coutinho was the stand out winner at tonight’s 2015 LFC Player Awards, held at the Echo Arena.

Walking away with four awards, including Goal of the Year for his spectacular shot against Southampton at St Mary’s and Performance of the Year for his outstanding show against Manchester City at Anfield, Coutinho also picked up Player’s Player of the Year and Player of the Year Award voted for by the fans at the star studded event.

Departing Reds’ Captain, Steven Gerrard was honoured with an Outstanding Achievement Award for his 23 years of dedication to LFC. He was awarded the accolade by formative coaches Dave Shannon and Hugh McCaulley. Over 3000 fans gave their captain a fitting final farewell by closing the evening with a rousing rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Winners of other player accolades included 20 year-old winger, Raheem Sterling who was voted Young Player of the Year by fans. U21s midfielder Joao Carlos Teixeira, who spent the season on loan with Championship side Brighton, took Academy Player of the Year and England Women’s World Cup representative Fara Williams picked up Liverpool Ladies Player of the Year.

Former Liverpool greats Ron Yeats and Ian St John were awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for their services to the Club throughout the Shankly era and beyond. A fitting tribute for the pair given it is 50 years to the month since the legendary FA Cup win which brought the FA Cup silverware to LFC for the first time in the Club’s history.

Winners of other accolades included:

– Bill Shankly Community Award – awarded to the person who has shown commitment to their community through supporting local projects and activities or by selflessly giving their time to help others – Winner: Chris Anders from the HoneyRose Foundation

– Supporters’ Club of the Year – awarded to the Official Liverpool Supporters Club that has consistently represented Liverpool FC to a high standard, brought fans together and helped support the LFC Foundation and other local charitable causes: Official Liverpool FC Supporters Club London

– Staff Recognition Award – For a member of Liverpool FC staff who is dedicated to Liverpool FC and upholds the Liverpool way – Winner: Ian Wallace
