According to reports, Liverpool are on ‘alert’ after discovering that a couple of players the club have shown an interest in since the summer are now possibly available for vastly reduced fees.

As reported last month on Live4liverpool, various sources have claimed that Liverpool are still interested in signing on loan Manchester United striker, Radamel Falcao and the Express are under the impression that Monaco are planning to lower their asking price to somewhere in the region of £20 million in an effort to get interest from the Reds again.

The Columbian striker has had a terrible season on loan at Manchester United, and is believed to be the most expensive loan signing in history but club’s like Chelsea and Liverpool are still believed to be keen to bring him back next season.

There is no doubting that Falcao could still do a job for a top side and the past couple of seasons have been a real struggle for the striker with constant injuries and niggles but whether Liverpool would be willing to take a chance is open to question.

As for Kovacic, the Inter Milan star will likely be sold in the summer as the club attempt to finance deals for players (chief amongst them believed to be Man City’s Toure) and LIverpool have been put on alert as reports continue in the likes of the Daily Mirror that Inter want as little as £7 million for the player.

Kovacic is a highly promising Croatian international who is approaching the end of his most influential season to date for the club and he would represent something of a coup, should Liverpool be able to get him in.

The reports also claim that he would be considered a suitable replacement for Steven Gerrard, so make of that what you will. But after the mess the club made of replacing Suarez last season, it’s unlikely a 21 year old – albeit a talented one – would cut it, with regards properly replacing either player.

What do you think of today’s rumours; would either player be a welcome addition at Anfield? Let us know your thoughts below.

Stop selling key players and buying rubbish..replacing Suarez with lambortelli last term was obviously a failure…replacing lambortelli with players like ings is worse…Liverpool need strikers with speed dribbling ability and a keen eye for goal…why are they not trying to sign strikers who have scored 20 or more goals this season if a title push is the intent for next season

Livrerpool won’t get squat without CL. Couldn’t even get Sanchez with it last year. Time we accept the Reds missed the boat years ago. It’s a springboard for players to better clubs. Best they can hope for is occassional 4th place. Have to buy young and trust to luck. Sterling gone now too.

falcao? please not. 20m on a busted flush. a pathetic attempt to sign a ‘marquee signing’. except that falcao’s marquee blew over last year when he did his knee in. i’d prefer a tent from go outdoors now!
