Could the Dortmund boss be on his way to Anfield?

Less than 24 hours after Marca reported that Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti is very keen on the Liverpool job, there are claims (originally from last night) that Jurgen Klopp would be just as eager to move to Anfield.

As with the Ancelotti reports yesterday, these are just rumours and claims based on the odd quote; nothing is yet concrete, so we’re simply reporting on claims from various sources.

The claims from German publication Bild have been picked up on by many national papers and even our own Liverpool Echo are reporting the story that Klopp is prepared to forego his ‘six month sabbatical’, should he be offered the Liverpool job.

There were rumours last night that Liverpool had been given the nod by Klopp’s representatives to speak with the Dortmund coach who will depart the German giants after the final of the German cup this weekend. However, at present, it’s hard to separate the truth from the lie, considering the sheer volume of conflicting reports.

Like the Italian boss though, Klopp is believed to hold Liverpool in the highest regard, with the passion of the fans and storied history of the club attracting both.

Our advice: just enjoy the rumour mill for the time being as, as we mentioned yesterday, nobody seems to know what’s happening at the moment and only the men involved know what lies ahead.

One thing of particular note to bear in mind though is that, while there were claims earlier in the week that Rodgers was safe, there has been no official ‘vote of confidence’ from the club. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? That all depends on where you stand with the manager. But FSG are not known for dragging their heels where business is concerned.

With Rodgers due to meet with FSG for his ‘end of season review’ shortly, and Klopp due to leave Dortmund after his final game at the weekend (not to mention Ancelotti soon to be replaced by Rafa at Madrid), it’s highly likely that we may well have something more solid to go on in the coming days.
