Ings would be a decent signing for the Reds but better quality signings are needed

It’s perhaps the worst kept transfer secret of the summer, but Liverpool – reportedly – now believe that they have done enough to secure the signature of Burnley’s Danny Ings.

The English striker’s contract runs out during the summer and there was apparently interest from David Moyes’ Real Sociedad and Manchester United but the Reds’ have seemingly got their man, who has stated that he will declare his intentions by the end of the month. At least that’s according to the Daily Mail.

Ings has just come off the back of his first season in the Premier League, in which his goals (a fairly impressive 10) but was unable to save Burnley from relegation and now he is free to sign for a club for what will be a nominal fee, reportedly around £5 million.

With Liverpool shorn of their star man, Daniel Sturridge, and having made a mess of last summer’s business after acquiring the questionable services of Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli, Ings will at least represent a goal-scoring threat, should he sign.

However, he is unlikely to really whet the appetite of a fan-base, still waiting for the club to properly replace the third best player in the world, Luis Suarez.

With one top striker signing over the summer, in the form of a Gonzalo Higuain or Alexandre Lacazette, Ings would definitely complement a much stronger looking forward line but, on his own, he may not be enough.

Are you excited by the potential of signing Ings, or is he not at the level the Reds should be chasing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

He has scored more goals than Mario. And it doesn’t look like he gonna create troubles with the team. Give him a try.

No, I don’t think so. lngs is not the type of player we should be targeting, we need a great finisher to help fill the void left by
    Luis Suarez.

Yeah, Give Ings a try, only £5m. Who knows, Ings might score lots of goals with the support of our midfielders, minus Sterling, of coz.
