LFC stars take on a challenge with Betfair

As the 2014/2015 season draws to a close, online bookmaker Betfair has teamed up with Liverpool FC to give a few of the clubs stars the chance to prove their football knowledge in a bespoke Liverpool FC ‘Heads Up’ challenge.

Betfair’s take on the famous ‘Heads Up’ mobile app, tests the current players’ knowledge of Liverpool FC and football as a whole.

First team players Dejan Lovren, Lucas Leiva and José Enrique stepped up to the challenge and were given the chance to compete in rounds that asked them to take it in turns to describe ‘teammates’, ‘Liverpool FC legends’ and ‘famous premier league celebrations’ to one another.

Betfair organised for the challenge to take place at the club’s Melwood Training Ground, and proceedings were overseen by host Roman Kemp.

Players excelled at describing their current teammates, needing only the clue ‘Legend’ to guess club captain Gerrard. Lucas and Lovren had fun mimicking their old team mate Luis Suarez’s pistols and wrist kissing celebration, whilst Jose Enrique gave a great example of the ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’ celebration.

It was also clear that Brendan Rodger’s current crop have been doing their homework, showing great knowledge of Anfield history. All three foreign stars described club legends such as Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish with aplomb.

Betfair Spokesperson, Harry Phillips commented “Heads Up is a modern day classic and there are some great versions available already, but we wanted to see how the Liverpool player’s fared when it came to knowledge of their club mates, Liverpool’s history and the beautiful game as a whole. They were pretty good, and all were unanimous in their description of Steven Gerrard – “Legend” – which says it all”.
