Gerrard did not get the send off he would have been hoping for

What a send off for Stevie; that goal from Lallana, the movement from Coutinho and Sterling, and the defensive solidity from Skrtel, Lovren and Can.

If you’d not watched the game and been aware of Liverpool’s form since the beginning of April, you’d probably have guessed only one of the three above was true and you’d be right. Sadly, the one goal from Lallana just wasn’t enough to even send Gerrard off with three points.

Tragic, underwhelming drivel may seem harsh but when you consider some fans had allowed themselves to be diddled out of over £1000 for a ticket, whilst others had been looking forward to seeing the icon of their generation get a fitting send off for months, the performance the Liverpool players managed to put on was nothing short of  disgraceful.

The day will be remembered for Gerrard being let down by his team mates on his final Anfield send off, but the more immediate concern is that Brendan Rodgers has needed to arrest this worrying downturn for the past 6 weeks and has been out-thought at every turn. Worse still, he’s been out-thought by managers of the calibre of Alan Pardew and Tim Sherwood.

While Crystal Palace deserved their win today, a more competent Liverpool performance would’ve ensured the points and allowed many fan’s number one Liverpool legend to move on to the next chapter of his career in a fitting manner.

Depressing, undeserved send off from the team mates and let down by a manager who has reached his upper limit. Promising is no more, Rogers has fullfilled his potential…about as high as pardew, allardice and Hughes. Slightly higher than Bruce, dyche. I hope you get the idea.

Worst still. This charlatan will be in charge for another season.

BR has simply failed lfc. He is only but a baby coach- lower than almost all the epl managers. Worst still for lfc, our legends and fans are dangerously keeping quiet. Man u fans needed only one bad season to revolt. Imo, br & Ayre should go.
