Benteke – or Bacca – next on Liverpool’s list?

Bacca has been linked to the Reds this week

If there is one thing you can’t accuse Liverpool of being at the moment, it’s lazy in the transfer market. The club has had perhaps its busiest week to date, with Firmino, Clyne, Bacca, Rondon and now Christian Benteke (again) either signing for the club, having a bid accepted for them or being rumoured to be joining quite imminently.

But while those previous four names have been mostly welcome, the rumours surrounding Benteke haven’t sat too well with Liverpool fans since the season ended.

It is being claimed in this morning’s press that the Reds are still looking at the Villa man as their number one striking target, despite refusing to meet his club’s demands after they rejected a previous £23 million bid for the Belgian.

Liverpool are considering going back in for Benteke but will not meet the player’s club’s asking price.

With regards Benteke himself, there’s no doubting he can score in the Premier League, managing 42 in 88 for his club, with 49 in 99 in all competitions since joining three seasons ago.

Our only concern is that he just isn’t suited to the Reds current style, something which Firmino’s signing, and Clyne’s imminent signing, testify will not change next year. Will Benteke turn out to be nothing more than a more expensive Lambert or Balotelli? It certainly seems that way, on paper at least.

Luckily for those that are of that same opinion, it seems that interest in Sevilla man, Carlos Bacca, is still prevalent with the club simply having to meet his club’s demands of £21.5 million to secure the 28 year old Columbian man.

The player’s agent has also confirmed Liverpool’s interest in his player, when he told the Guardian: “We have had lots of interest but so far there has been no official approach.

“I spoke with Carlos on Wednesday night and we agreed we need a real solution. Clubs are telling him not to sign anything until they have made an offer but we are still waiting.

“Liverpool and another English club are among those that have shown an interest but there are also clubs in Italy. What is clear is that they must meet the release clause but at this stage nobody has.”

benteke is an injury pro and he is nt too skillful we need a skillful striker like luis suarez so carlos bacca is the man

Bacca will do better on a liverpool shirt than Benteke. Bacca is mobile Benteke is not. To me Edin Dzeko will be the perfect Business he’s scores from outside the box and also very quick than Benteke.

Its time we tk a look at the type of player composition with our style and how each player will fit before hes bought. Benteke wont fit the style of south american midfield available. so pls lets go for Bacca.

  • De Duke says:

Carlos Bacca to me is a more balanced and preferred striker than Benteke.Bacca will suite the pattern of Coutinho and magnificent Firmino. Pls Rodgers should go for BACCA to pair him with Sturridge,Origi or Danny Ings.

Kovacic in and that should be it , sell borini , balotelli , lambert, allen, we will still have sturridge , firminho, origi, Ings as forwards and hopefully sterling forced to stay another season . Give Rodgers a year and half with no more money to spend, then let Gerard take over . Then you will see the difference of passion for the manager and higher level of players willing to sign for us .
