Having been interested in the midfielder since last summer, Liverpool have today finally confirmed that Manchester City midfielder, James Milner, will sign for the club on July 1st.
The 53 time capped England international has been at City for 4 years, having signed from Aston Villa and was in impressive form for the club last season, often keeping his more illustrious team mates out of the side with his work rate and hard working attitude.
These are two attributes that the Reds sorely missed at times last season and, in truth, what Milner can offer the team is something that has been missed since the departure of fan favourite Dirk Kuyt.
But, like Kuyt, Milner will offer a lot more than just working hard. He is a top professional, with over 500 games experience and has a lot of quality to offer as a footballer. He is also a proven winner, having won the Premier League (twice), along with an FA Cup and League Cup at the club.
If the club can follow Milner with more signings of this ilk, we may just be able to start getting a bit more excited about what’s to come next year.
