Liverpool enter race for Newcastle midfielder

Pretty soon, the national press will have more luck finding players that haven’t linked with Liverpool this summer but, until then, they’re still making a good go at finding new players to push into the on-rushing ‘LFC transfer rumour train’.

This time, it’s Newcastle’s French midfielder, Moussa Sissoko that gets the gossip treatment. According to the Express the North-East club are prepared to listen to offers of around £17 million for the midfielder.

Sissoko scored just 5 goals for Newcastle last season but is believed to have attracted the interest of Arsenal and Chelsea, with Liverpool having now entered the ‘race’ to sign the player.

The French midfielder is still only 25 but is unlikely to excite too many fans, despite being one of Newcastle’s stand out players last season. He is likely to be moving on from Newcastle this summer but, at present, we at Live4liverpool find it hard to believe that the club will be prepared to spend so much on a midfielder that is barely an improvement on the likes of Can, Henderson, Lucas, and so on.

The Express has little evidence of any genuine interest from the Reds however, so it’s likely just a case of ‘new day, new player linked’ with regards the story.
