Maca Bartra has been ruled out of a move to Anfield this summer

For the umpteenth time this summer, a Liverpool target has seemingly been ruled out of a move to Anfield. This time regular Reds target, Marc Bartra, has been confirmed as unavailable.

The Spanish international made a respectable 25 appearances for Barcelona this summer but seemed like he may be available after making less appearances than the previous season. However, talkSport have reported that Barca sporting director, Ariedo Braida, has refuted these claims.

He reportedly told AS: “We have no intention of transferring him, therefore, I consider him to be a player who is unavailable.”

There were claims that a lack of regular first-team football compared to the previous season had seem Bartra’s buyout clause drop to as little as £8.6 million, which alerted Liverpool (amongst others) to his availability.

But it seems the Reds will now have to look elsewhere for a new right back and, if reports today are to be believed, have gone back in with an improved offer for Nathaniel Clyne.

With Glen Johnson having been released by Liverpool, the club has Jon Flanagan and Javier Manquillo as right backs, but lack any real experience in the position and now another target seems to be have been ruled out.

Can the Reds get a deal pushed through for a new right back this summer, or will this wind up as another disastrous summer, in terms of replacing players in key positions? Let us know your thoughts below.
