Could Higuain actually end up at Anfield this summer?

Could Higuain actually end up at Anfield this summer? He’d certainly like to, according to reports in the Express yesterday

While everybody has been obsessing over whether Bacca, Rondon or Benteke would be the ideal striker for Liverpool, but long-term LFC target Gonzalo Higuain seems to have been overlooked.

Alas, that wasn’t to last for long, as the Reds’ search for a new world class striker drags on Higuain’s name has – again – been dragged out. Only this time, the claims are that the Napoli striker is ‘begging’ his club accept a bid from Liverpool for him.

Pretty bold claims, these certainly are, but the Express cites Italian newspaper Sports Mediaset as the source who are claiming that Argentina star Higuain has pleaded with his club to let him join LFC.

It was only last week that Napoli had declared that any club looking to sign the striker would have to meet his buyout clause, believed to be somewhere well over £60 million.

But while the Reds would be unlikely to be able to afford such a fee (let alone actually pay it), if it is actually true that the 27 year old wants the move, Napoli may be persuaded to accept a lower bid.

The Napoli player, despite struggling to ever really establish himself as number one striker at Real Madrid, is without a doubt one of the best strikers in the world, scoring almost 200 goals in his career, failing only twice to hit at least 24 goals in a season since 2008, whilst averaging a goal every other game.

Whether Liverpool are interested in Higuain at this time, is something we’ll only know if a bid is officially made, but if there is any truth whatsoever in these claims, then the club would be foolish to not follow up on the Argentina international’s wishes.

Can not afford him. Way too much. Lacazette is the one. Pay what Lyon want..get him.

  • Nicholas says:

Form point of view, he is genius and creative. My opinion is that Liverpool should go for him now he want to join to avoid what happened last season

Nick, have you got the money to buy him as FSG wont pay £60M. We are selling club now.

  • Dave says:

Can get lacazette for around 21 mil. Young and hungry. He’s in our price range Whereas higuan is not. Simple as. Pull out all the stops and get lacazette.

We need quality attacker and higuain is the definition right now!

  • Alex says:

Higuain is class and it would be a dream if he were at lfc BUT it is a dream! Lfc can not afford 30 mil never mind 60 mil. This transfer will not happen. He will end up at Chelsea, man c or Man U.they have money to waste. If we waste our time pursuing a deal here we will fail again and end up with the left overs…just like last year. I agree with trying to get lacazette. Pay Lyon 22 mil for a quick deal.

I don’t see any reason why we should buy Higuan,we need young and hungry for goals players who can bring back the Lfc glories! Bacca,Lacazatte are the men.
