When you’ve managed the Reds for a few years, having been player and coach for years before, you’d like to think you know a thing or two about what makes a successful transfer window and, subsequently, what makes a successful Liverpool team.

And, despite falling short as manager, Evans has worked under enough successful managers and with enough talented players to know what he’s talking about when he praises the club’s work in the current window.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Roy said: “I’m delighted with all the signings being done very early.

“Otherwise, I think you can end up without the signings you wanted and you start to go and pick players who weren’t quite as good as the ones you wanted at the start.

“By around the end of March you’ve got to have an idea of who you want to buy, as a manager.

“You can’t say it’s going to happen but you’ve got to have an idea of who you want to buy.

“It makes life for a manager far easier if you’re getting the pick of the players at this moment in time rather than waiting for the end of the transfer window where it becomes very hectic and sometimes you make some poor decisions.”

The Reds have so far signed Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, James Milner, Joe Gomez, Roberto Firmino and look likely to sign Nathaniel Clyne, whilst one of Christian Benteke or Carlos Bacca could complete what could prove to be the club’s best summer in years.

Regarding our new Brazilian, in particular, Evans continued: “I’m quite excited, myself! He seems to have a really good record, scores goals and does a good job from midfield so I’m really pleased.

“You never know until they actually turn up at the club – that’s the hard part of the management side.

“You can go and watch them as many times as you like but, until they turn up and join in the sessions, you don’t know which way it’s going to go.

“But he seems to have all the qualities that are needed to make a good player for Liverpool.”

Let’s hope the former Reds manager is right, and things turn out more positively after this summer!

I’ve been saying for years Liverpool should get all the transfers of players they want to come into the club before the transfer window opens on July 1st so the are all available for preseason training and the tour as well. Transfers out can wait. If Mario Balotelli remains at Liverpool he will find he wont even make the subs bench, he is not going to be part of the first team, whether he even makes the reserve team is unlikely as well.
