As reported recently, Liverpool’s interest in PSG youngster Lucas Digne remains strong with reports in the past 24 hours that the PSG president was in London to discuss a transfer for the 22 year old.
Liverpool were not believed to be looking for a left back until recently, with Alberto Moreno’s poor finish to last season not affecting his position as the Reds’ first choice but reports claim that Liverpool are looking for a top player to provide Moreno with competition for the left back role.
The reports come via the Express, who quote Laurent Blanc saying he is keen to keep hold of the young French defender. He said: “He is with us, he is very professional, he trains very well and has prepared excellently. This is a good thing for him and possibly for us, should he stay with us this season”.
With Digne reportedly looking to move for regular first team football, having made barely over 60 appearances since he moved to the club in 2013, it would seem strange if he was willing to move to simply be competition for the Spaniard.
So, are we to assume Digne will be the first choice left back, or is Brendan Rodgers planning on some sort of regular rotation this season after learning lessons playing two or three times a week in the first half of last year?
Regardless, rotating the squad is not an issue for us, the fans, to concern ourselves with and a new potentially top class left back can only help strengthen once again.
Should Digne become first choice or is Moreno the better option to start the season with, should the French left back sign this week? Let us know your thoughts below.
I prefer Lucas Digne to Alberto Moreno in our left back Option.we shud pls sign Digne and sell Enrique.
I feel we should look into signing a more experienced leftback
I will prefer digne cos moreno is not doing very well and the presence of digne will make moreno step up his game.
If this story is true,he digne will be a great buy,but only if true.!!!
I think we need another solid central midfielder not another Lb. Maybe even Alonso and Illaramendi. Sell Lucas and Joe Allen
