The 20 year old has finally got what he wanted – a move away from Anfield

It’s almost over. What promised to be the most boring, irritating, distasteful transfer saga of the summer is coming to a close, as Liverpool have accepted a £49 million offer from Manchester City for Raheem Sterling, according to reports.

Earlier today Sterling had reportedly been removed from the Liverpool squad about to depart for a tour of Asia and Australia, pending an improved offer from City.

The 20 year old had been pushing for a move since the end of the season, allowing his agent Aidy Ward to continuously muddy the waters and turn what could’ve been a fairly simple process into a dirty war of words and conflicting claims.

Thankfully, Sterling and Ward will soon be Manchester City’s problem and Liverpool can go about looking for a replacement for the winger, with the likes of Marco Reus, Pedro and Real Madrid’s Denis Cheryshev rumoured to be considered.

Are you glad that Sterling’s finally on his way, or should Liverpool have done more to keep hold of him? Let us know your thoughts below.

Thank God o, finally his off our hands. I wish him d best in his new club. But i am very happy with d amount we got for him. I dont think he is worth that much or wil ever worth that much. Sterling got what he wants, man city got what they want and we got what we want, all in all everyone’s happy

  • Kevin says:

He’s shite. I am surprised we are getting so much for him. Great business for Liverpool. Unlucky man city. A lot of money to spend for a bench warmer

  • wilko says:

man city are muppets, nearly 50 mil for an unproven player with a questionable character, well done lfc

  • David says:

50 mil is only good if it’s invested properly. As much as we hate him right now sterling is a fantastic player, I’m sure a lot of fans will be worried when he lines up against us the same way as was with Torres . On the brighter side , Man city have another Marino balotelli type problem. I was speaking to a former agent of sterling and jokingly told him he must regret leaving him, he said no money will make him regret that . He said sterling was the biggest prima doña he had ever seen and that he was instigating the contract problems not Aidy ward . Man city will see that side of him when he is subbed or not starting . so now that our miserly owners have some cash please get kovacic and illeramandi . Our problem is the middle 3 not the from 3

Play alongside Allen, Ings and Markovic or Yaya Toure, Aguero and Silva? A no brainer really. And increase your wages to 200k a week how can anyone blame Sterling really? While all this drama gets Bodgers off the hook. Poor manager poor signings poor coach poor motivator.

  • Liverpool forever says:

Congrats Sterling, >> sit on the bench now and enjoy football self destruction. you think he can take Silva’s, Nasri’s, Ya Ya’s or Aguerro’s places ???
Hope Liverpool will spend wisely on the money received……
