The 20 year old winger is reportedly refusing to join up with the rest of the squad

While waking up to hear that one of your outstanding players is refusing to join his team mates on the club’s preseason tour is not the nicest way to start a day, in Raheem Sterling’s case this hardly comes as any sort of surprise.

And that’s what reports in (reputable) sources such as the Liverpool ECHO and the Telegraph are claiming has occurred overnight at Anfield.

Sterling has apparently told the club that he wants to be left out of the squad’s tour of Asia and Australia which is due to take place next week, presumably in order to push a move to Manchester City through.

The 20 year old Liverpool player has been the subject of two bids from Man City since the start of June, with both having been turned down for being too far off the club’s asking price.

However, it was reported last weekend that City will return to Liverpool with a bigger bid for the England star this week, and provided they meet Liverpool’s valuation a deal could be struck fairly quickly.

But, while the club seem prepared to allow the youngster to leave (if his valuation is finally met) Sterling’s attitude (though, he’s obviously egged on by his agent Aidy Ward) whilst still officially a club employee will only erode his standing with fans even further.

Has Sterling burned his final bridge with the club and ourselves, the fans and should the club force him to attend the tour with the rest of the squad, unless City offer and acceptable fee? Let us know your thoughts below.

LFC should make him go on tour but not play him. Either that or stop his wages for refusing to go

  • Darby Alman says:

I think he should go and not even play a single minute. Warm up the bench. Think I would,nt even sell him,I,d not play him till his contract expires in two years. That’s the end of him , his England career and would make players aware they are doing a job and have to do what they are asked to do. To much money being payed to these teenagers who become millionaires and have there heads full of shit. Make them get a real job.

As long as Man City did not table our asking price, Sterling must conform to the rules and regulations of Liverpool F.C. Besides, he still is our player, thus we have the right to do anything we want against him. I suggest that we don’t sell him, we leave him on bench the whole of next season.. #YNWA

Liverpool should now inform Man City, Aidy Ward and Sterling that his transfer price has now gone up to 100 million.

Don’t blame Sterling, why stay in a team that got hammered 6-1 by Stoke gone 3 years without a trophy and finished sixth under Bodgers

  • Orca16 says:

tell him to piss off. No one is bigger then LFC so play hard ball with him, I am going to the Brisbane Roar game next Friday and if he gets on the pitch he will be well booed by the fans.

He is an ungrateful baby so stuff him.
