Skrtel can’t wait to go back on tour with the club this summer

Martin Skrtel believes Liverpool’s upcoming pre-season tour provides the perfect opportunity for the club’s new signings to bed in.

Brendan Rodgers has completed moves for six players already this summer, with James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez, Nathaniel Clyne and Roberto Firmino all arriving ahead of the 2015-16 season.

A number of those fresh faces were present at Melwood on Monday, as preparations for the new campaign began in earnest with the first training session since the summer break.

Next week, the Reds will take things up a gear as they set off on a tour that takes in Bangkok, Brisbane, Adelaide, Kuala Lumpur and Helsinki.

Skrtel is hoping to use the time away to get to know his new teammates better and create a winning atmosphere.

“We’ll be away for almost two weeks and spend some time together so we can know them better and they can know us better,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“It’s always good for building team spirit and it’s the perfect time for them to come into the team.

“It’s always nice to see new players in the team because they can strengthen [us] and that’s very important.

“We met the guys this morning and they’re nice lads and I believe they can help us.”

Skrtel has twice featured for the Reds at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, having taken part in the pre-season tours of 2009 and 2013.

And the Slovakian is looking forward to returning to what is sure to be a packed-out ground for the meeting with True Thai All Stars on July 14.

“I’ve been there a few times and every time we’ve been there we’ve had a nice reception,” he continued.

“The fans are very nice to us, coming to watch us with 40-50,000 in the stadium, and it’s always nice to see that.

“I hope this time it’s going to be the same and that’s why I’m looking forward to it.

“The first time we travelled there was in my second year at Liverpool and I’d never seen something like that before.

“Obviously this time I know what we can expect and it’s nice to go there and see the fans because not all of them can come to Liverpool and see us play at Anfield.”

Well the tour didn’t help last summers players to bed in Martin and we finished sixth. This is patronising pr bull.

I jove that part ‘we have to go there and see the fans because not all of them can come to liverpool and see us play at Anfield.’
