The 25 year old is reportedly a target for LFC this summer

It’s been a relatively slow week, with regards Liverpool transfer business, with just the two player’s posing against the backdrop of the Liver building or an enormous LFC flag. Admittedly, both of those players were already signed long ago but they all count.

But today’s press are reporting transfer ‘boosts’ for two players that would be at the very top of any Red’s wishlist: Asier Illarramendi and Alexandre Lacazette.

According to the Daily Mail, Rafa Benitez and his Real Madrid side are weighing up a move for William Carvalho. This, claim the paper, is a sign that Rafa would be willing to sell the 25 year old who, while very highly rated, has struggled to usurp the more illustrious names in the Madrid squad.

A fee of around £16 million is mentioned and, of course, it’s likely the Reds would go a bit higher to ensure we capture a genuine top class midfielder after the former captain’s recent departure. But we’ll just have to wait to see on this one, maybe holding out a bit of hope that Rafa may play ball.

As far as Lacazette goes, this one still seems a bit unlikely and the longer the story has little in the way of concrete evidence behind it the less likely it is that it’ll happen.

However, reports from L’Equipe claim that the Lyon striker is now preparing to hand in a transfer request to get his move away and he doesn’t necessarily need to be playing for a club in the Champions League.

If that is the case then the club president is going to look very silly after arrogantly dismissing interest from Liverpool last month.

It’s important to note though, that most of the English press have put two and two together on this one, without a mention of Liverpool from the French, conclusions have obviously been jumped to.

Either way, it’s nice to see a couple of quality players being linked in amongst all the potential future dead wood.

Should the club go all out for these two targets? Let us know your thoughts below.

I would like Brendan Rodgers to frustrate Sterling for making such a nasty comment as Man. Utd did to Tevez. Illarra and Laca are good but delay is dangerous
